IT’S often assumed the butler did it: Well, this home in Willagee’s Butler Street, tucked behind a cute white picket fence, certainly did it for me.

There was a time aeons ago when Willagee was looked down upon, but these days the suburb is laughing all the way to the bank.

This three-bedroom home on a tidy 352sqm is one of the working class suburb’s originals, built in 1953.

The vendor had more than a clue when he took a hatchet to the interior, removing several walls to create a lovely open-plan and light-filled kitchen/dining/living area.

Aged jarrah floors glow under foot and the living area is dominated by a lovely open fireplace and a bay window overlooking a manicured front garden.

The kitchen, new and dazzling white with caesar stone benches, is compact but has plenty of space for a cook to whip up a feast. It even features a handy pantry.

A dignified study at the rear of the home will come in handy for anyone working from home or with teens.

White French doors from the rear vestibule lead to a covered timber deck where alfresco dining day or night will be a pleasure. When the kids ask to be excused from the table (ha ha) there’s a swathe of grass for a bit of cricket.

Willagee is a very liveable suburbs these days with lots of trees, parks and open areas. The local shops are within walking distance as are the local primary and high schools.

Or jump in the car and you’re at the Attadale foreshore for a pleasant evening stroll, or in Fremantle for coffee in minutes.
