High beam on Beamish

A bloke was wheeling a blue kayak down the road as I pulled up to this Beamish Avenue, Mt Pleasant home.

It should have told me something, but I was hot and bothered and running late after hitting traffic.

So it wasn’t until I glanced out of a second-floor bedroom that it struck me just how close to the river this home is.

Even pulling a kayak you’d barely break a sweat walking around the corner to the peaceful, tree-lined river foreshore—just down from the Mt Henry bridge.

White is in style, and this three-bedroom home is white inside and out, from the white front door, sheltered by the white-covered portico with its white columns, to the white tiled floor of the entry and the slightly off-white carpet in the open-plan living/dining area.

With plenty of floor-to-ceiling windows I kept my sunglasses on in order not to be blinded by the light.

There’s no prizes for guessing the galley-style kitchen is all white.

From floor, to bench tops to cupboards (including a large pantry) it’s a white canvas waiting for a splash of colour when a new owner adds their personal touch.

The main-bedroom is on the ground floor, a spacious room overlooking a sheltered, courtyard front garden where a forest of pencil pines casts a stately green contrast against the creamy-yellow of a high limestone-rendered wall.

The rear garden of this 599sqm block is a mix of paving and raised garden beds full of roses, overshadowed by a massive oak tree next door, which provides cooling shade for the alfresco dining area.

But in case the neighbours take an axe to it there’s plenty of room to grow your own, put in grass for the kids, or even a pool.

People move so their off-spring can go to Rossmoyne or Applecross senior high schools and living at this address you’ll be spoilt for choice as it has dual school zoning for both.

And the river’s not the only thing close by— the freeway is a street away (not that you’d know from the serenity) and Booragoon Shopping Centre is just up the road.
