Locals kept in the dark

A 90-UNIT development is on the cards for the old Striker Pavilion on Kitchener Road.

Nearby neighbours are up in arms about the council’s consultation, after just eight were notified about the significant ramping of the site’s bulk and size.

If approved the four-storey project by Tuscom will be 13.5m high instead of the usual 9m limit and have twice the regulated floorspace.

Locals are also concerned about traffic snarls caused by the 90-odd cars the development will bring, and balconies overlooking their homes.

The Herald asked Melville council why only eight neighbours were notified, but didn’t hear back before deadline.

No one from the developer Tuscom was available to chat about the project when the Chook called.

  1. Is there any substance to rumours that 30% of the units are to be government backed social housing?
