THE smell of freshly mown grass and the pleasantly metallic scent of the river in the morning was in the air as I rocked up to this Mt Pleasant property.
Bobbing gently on the water was a flock of ducks, and a couple of small boats, causing me to reflect that such a view was a blissful way to start the day.
From this five-bedroom/four-bathroom home every day would start with this restful view.
Set on the rise of the sub-divided block, which is still a generous 1031sqm, the ground floor is given over to four of the bedrooms, and a huge open living area, currently the playroom for the vendors’ three children.
River views beckon from a number of turns and two of the bedrooms look out over the sparkling-blue pool at the front.
To the rear there’s a playground that would put many public examples to shame. It’s a magic space with a landscaped, in-ground trampoline, a forest of paperbark trees, and a slide into a sandpit from an elevated timber cubby house, accessed via a timber suspension bridge leading from an almost life-size dingy.
The upper level of this home is for the grown ups, a gargantuan space with formal and informal living areas.
There’s adult magic afoot in the huge kitchen, with its swathe of white, caesar-stone bench tops and walk-in pantry.
Huge windows look out over a spacious alfresco dining area and down to a ground-level covered patio, and in the other direction from the dining area, there’s nothing but the glass barrier of the deck, between river and city views.
The main bedroom is also on the second level, an impressive space, with wall-to-glass doors that take in the views, and lead to the generous wrap-around deck.
The ensuite is a mouth-watering space with a deep, free-standing bath, huge shower and lovely, argument preventing double vanities.
A four-car garage ensures there’s room for the vehicles, as well as the boat.
“Make an offer,” the agent says, before adding the clincher, “all reasonable offers will be considered”. That dashes any hope I’d had—unless I win Thursday’s Lotto jackpot.
Where’s that coupon?
