Cockburn council is throwing a number of shindigs for NAIDOC Week which runs from July 7-14.
It kicks off with a Deadly Moves Youth Event at Cockburn Youth Centre July 6. The following Monday (July 8) the council holds an official opening for NAIDOC at its council HQ on Coleville Crescent at 10am.
There will also be dancers, didgeridoo playing, an art exhibition and morning tea. The following day the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Seniors event starts at 10am at the Cockburn Seniors Centre, Spearwood. Rounding off the event on July 10, there is a introduction to Nyungar culture for children, with Leonard Thorne at Spearwood Library staring from 10am.
