Graffiti vandals targeted the West End last weekend, defacing some of WA’s most historic buildings.
Tags were sprayed on parts of the Round House, the old whaling tunnel and on an artist’s building on Arthur Head.
None of the artists at J Sheds were keen to talk.
Mayor Brad Pettitt doesn’t mind artistic graffiti but says there’s no place for scribbles.
He notes attacks are down by a quarter over the year.
“The police deserve some good credit for this as they have really had a much stronger presence in Fremantle, which we greatly appreciate,” he says.
“That said, we will still get the occasional idiot scribbling on walls and that is why we have a dedicated graffiti removal team to make sure they come off as fast as possible.”
