Pilger doco in Freo

FREMANTLE will host a screening of controversial journalist John Pilger’s documentary about the plight of the country’s Aborigines, Utopia, on Australia Day.

Thousands flocked to Redfern in Sydney for the launch of the film in January last year, with enough people turning out to fill two football fields.

Utopia is a damning look at how indigenous Australians have been treated since colonisation, drawing on people and places the award-winning journo has encountered in his 56-year career.

Utopia will show at Replants on Wray Avenue from 6-9pm, where Nyungar elder Noel Nannup and owner Bruce Abbott hold regular workshops on indigenous culture and spirituality.
