THE streets around South Fremantle were buzzing last weekend courtesy of the inaugural Fremantle Artist Open House.
Five homes, all within walking distance, along Jenkin, Scott and Chester Streets had their doors opened so the art of 26 up-and-coming artists could be displayed on their walls, to give people an idea of how the art can look in domestic settings.
“[We] estimate we had about 1500 people through the doors on the first weekend,” delighted organiser Cathrina Read says.
“The vibe on the street was great.”
Sales were off the Richter Scale and Ms Read and her band of artists madly scrambled during the week to find replacements for this weekend’s showing.
But they’ve pulled it off and punters can expect a second great showing this Saturday and Sunday November 15 and 16 from 10am–4pm. Head to http://www.artistopenhousefremantle.com for directions.
