TREE roots cracking pipes caused water to pour across Elder Place outside Fremantle train station Monday afternoon.
A Water Corporation crew was soon on the scene to divert traffic and had the “considerable” water depth down by 5pm. In July last year a main burst at Hampton Road, leading to no water for local homes for four hours.
A corporation spokesperson says water infrastructure is in “very good condition and well within an acceptable age…the frequency of pipe bursts in Perth is very low [and] far less frequent than other states and cities.”
