Herald reader Reece Harley spotted the word LOVE in the water, laid out in stones, while heading into Freo on the train, snapped this pic and put us onto the yarn. We soon came across the word AMOK spelled out on the other side of the bridge.
We suspect it’s not a water-logged Romeo, but may be the work of street artist Amok Island, an Amsterdam artist now living in Perth who’s known for mostly fishy or water-based themes in his work, such as the frogfish and barracuda murals in Leederville, a hatching turtle in Port Hedland, and the giant squid inside the Newport Hotel in Freo.
