WITH wonderful candour the vendor pointed out the obvious—living on busy Tydeman Road is hardly a drawcard.

But the trade-off was moving into the area that she and hubby wanted, at a price they could afford.

“Living in North Fremantle is worth it,” she says six years after purchasing.

As the front door closes on this cute semi-detached cottage, trucks rumbling past on their way to North Quay barely register and the surprisingly spacious home is a quiet haven.

Two sets of now-retired rellies visiting annually from overseas, plus the emergence of a young child, means they need more space and an extra bathroom. If it wasn’t for that, they’d be staying put (and they hope, desperately, to be able to buy something nearby to stay in the community they’ve come to love).

With a bus stop and the North Fremantle train station nearby, whether work, play or getting their daughter to school, a car is almost redundant: “We hardly ever drive,” the vendor says.
