A $51 MILLION plan to build two residential towers of 13 and 15 storeys in Booragoon, near Garden City shopping centre, is likely to get the green light.
Melville council officers have recommended the Metro Central joint development assessment panel approve plans for the mixed-use complex at the corner of Davy and Marmion Streets.
TRG Properties’ plans cover 1.65ha and include ground floor commercial space, five offices, 122 apartments, 231 parking bays, a gym, and communal recreation and dining space.
A council report from May states there is no need for public consultation because the project meets the council’s “structure plan”. However, “relevant members of the community are aware of the development”, the report reads.
“The overall design, use of materials and architectural features are considered to both enhance the development and complement the existing streetscape without undue effect upon the amenity of adjoining lots or the surrounding locality,” the council report reads.
If the project gets the nod, construction will start mid 2016, and is expected to be completed by early 2018.
Plans will be tabled in a JDAP meeting on Tuesday, August 18, at Melville council.
