A big beauty

IF big is beautiful, then this home in Beeliar’s Britannia Avenue is Miss World — no, make that Miss Universe.

If that deputy mayor in Sydney’s Auburn gets the boot for that lavish wedding of his, where he closed the street down, he might like to consider a move west: it’s big enough for all the guests, the limos and the helicopters, with a sweeping drive discharging the entourage under a soaring, timber-ceilinged portico that’s straight from the pages of Billionaire Resorts magazine.

Despite the five-star hotel grandeur, this home was designed in part to allow truck access to a massive workshop at the rear of the whopping 4047sqm property.

The house alone covers 828sqm — cough, seriously — and everything about this five-bedroom-four-bathroom abode is on a grand style.

Remember to pack the Segway when you come visit to save your legs from a workout.

Slump glass features throughout, beautiful, soaring walls of it, and graceful panels that change colour as morning light turns to afternoon, and fades into evening.

A stupendous entry is the first glimpse of the delights to come.

“I’ve seen smaller apartments,” I thought, taking in the entry’s recessed ceiling and wall of floor-to-ceiling slump and plain glass onto the huge central courtyard this palace is built around.

Left is the bedroom wing, where the “lesser” bedrooms are anything but, with built-in study desks, walk-in robes and semi-ensuite, with double vanities to avoid squabbles.

The main bedroom suite is a gargantuan space, where a stunning modern chandelier twinkles daintily overhead. A corridor of slump glass leads to an ensuite worthy of such opulence, and a huge dressing room.

I circled the courtyard to the living wing, with its formal lounge (or games room) and massive open-plan family/dining/kitchen area.

Barely able to contain his excitement, the agent ushered me into the huge theatre room, and at the flick of a switch the ceiling twinkled like the night sky.

The living/dining area and kitchen wraps around a T-shaped pool, so keeping an eye on the kids while whipping up a meal in the designer kitchen is no problem. But let’s face it, that’s what staff are for.

An opulent alfresco area sits between the house and pool, complete with barbecue kitchen.

An A league soccer match could be played on a huge swathe of grass separating the huge workshop/shed at the bottom of the garden.

This certainly is one of a kind — it needs to be seen. Check it out.
