35th Annual Awards
Exhibition of The Watercolour Society of WA

Members of the Watercolour Society of WA have been painting on location in the Fremantle and Perth areas over the past twelve months in preparation for their 35th Annual Awards Exhibition, to be hosted at the Italian Club, Marine Terrace, Fremantle. The exhibition will officially open on Thursday 15 October at 6.30pm, and will be attended by patron Dr Ken Michael AC. Everyone is welcome to the official opening.

The exhibition will then continue to run for three more days, Friday 16 October 9am – 5pm, Saturday 17 October 9am-5pm and Sunday 18 October 9am-4pm. Entry is FREE on all days, and you will also have the opportunity to win an original framed artwork by Stephanie Boyle or a gourmet hamper in the raffle.

There will be over 250 high quality, never before exhibited watercolour artworks to view and available for sale from some of the best, internationally recognised watercolourists in the state. This year there will be a “Fremantle’s Working Port” category, in addition to the usual “Best in Show”, “Still Life”, “People’s Choice” and “Innovative” categories.

During the exhibition, members will conduct demonstrations in the art of watercolour painting, giving the general public the opportunity for a hands-on experience with what is arguably the most difficult painting medium to master. Members will also be available to answer questions and queries from the public about their paintings, society membership, forthcoming workshops and how and where watercolour classes given by members can be accessed.
