Pretty in pink

THE world was literally at my feet as I reclined on one of two chairs spanning the roof pitch of this South Fremantle home, to gaze across rooftops and trees to Garden and Rottnest Island and the Fremantle monument.

Ascending the stainless steel stairs and ramp to this eyrie wasn’t as scary as it first looked, and despite initial hesitation, the chairs were not held on by putty as I’d first nervously imagined.

I’d be adding a table and making this my favourite spot to escape with a good book, and a glass of something cool.

I’ve walked my dog passed the cute, pink, two-storey home for a few years and always fancied a look inside, and here I was wandering up the limestone stairs, through the lush native garden to  enter a side door.

The layout inside is simple, with a large downstairs bedroom with ensuite and a room that would make a great nursery, and sculptural bars on the huge windows for peace of mind.

Jarrah stairs lead to the second level, where floor-to-ceiling glass floods the huge living/dining/kitchen area with light.

There’s a large bedroom and study on this level, and with a dressing room and a bathroom right next door it could easily be the main bedroom, if you don’t fancy the ground-floor one.

A street facing deck off the bedroom looks across leafy South Fremantle.

The living area has its own deck, an expansive area with the feel of a tree-top house thanks to the many trees below and in surrounding gardens.

Set on 455sqm this lovely home is in a quiet cul-de-sac, mere minutes from South Beach and a swag of cafes.
