East Fremantle resident Evelyn Shirley celebrated her 100th birthday recently. Ms Shirley, who grew up on a wheat and sheep farm and was alive during both World Wars and the Depression, still enjoys a wine at happy hour and still gets around without needing a walker.

Ms Shirley’s daughter Anne Barker gave a speech on the occasion, saying her mum had a great interest in all things horticultural and loved travelling.
