POLICE are investigating a possible sighting of Mosman Park artist Annabelle Chen at the Melville Plaza shopping centre in the days leading up to her murder.

Ms Chen was last seen alive by her daughter on Thursday June 30 and a fisherman found her body in a suitcase floating on the Swan River on July 2.

The Herald understands staff from the plaza were interviewed by police this week, who were told CCTV of the day has already been wiped by the centre’s computers.

The major crime squad wasn’t giving up much information about the Melville search except to confirm it had been “conducting inquiries” in the suburb and surrounding area.

“Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”

Earlier in the week police divers returned to the Fremantle Traffic Bridge where they believe Ms Chen’s body was dumped into the river. They’re not revealing if anything new was found, but a previous search turned up tiles similar to those used to weigh down the suitcase. A scooter and chopping board believed to have been used to transport her body to the river was also discovered.

Ms Chen grew up in Singapore, where media was this week reporting she’d received $10 million in a divorce settlement.
