Murdoch precinct land released

WITH an eye on Murdoch becoming a “new city centre”, LandCorp is releasing seven large development lots for office, retail and 400 new residences.

The lots, ranging between 2000sqm and 6000sqm, will become part of a 9.6-hectare “health and knowledge precinct”, as they’re within walking distance of the $2 billion Fiona Stanley hospital, St John of God hospital, Murdoch university, and South Metropolitan TAFE.

The precinct is the first stage of the broader Murdoch Activity Centre, which is expected to provide 35,000 jobs, educational facilities for 44,000 students, and homes for 22,000 people.

The Barnett government has called on developers to register their interest in the new precinct.

“It will help accommodate Perth’s growing population through the delivery of diverse housing choices connected to job opportunities and essential infrastructure,” lands minister Terry Redman said.

Melville Mayor Russell Aubrey says the land release fits perfectly with the City’s structure plan.
