Willagee record breaker

THE winds of change are sweeping through Willagee, says real estate agent Siobhan Micale, who just sold a home on Chilton Street for a record $1.025 million.

It breaks the previous record, set by her, two years ago of $1m.

“In a softer market this is a fantastic price for the area,” she says.

Some of the six bidders had been looking in the Attadale and East Fremantle area, when the two-year-old home caught their eye.

Willagee was created in 1951 by state housing to provide cheap homes for workers in the recently established O’Connor industrial area.

But with its mix of old and new homes and close proximity to Perth and Fremantle, it’s now attracting a variety of purchasers, including young families, and has seen a surge in new businesses.

“Small cafes going in, yoga and pilates, I have been selling there for nine years and have seen a lot happening,” Ms Micale says.
