Treeby’s green shoots

THE new suburb of Treeby is a step closer, with Cockburn council adopting a draft structure plan and agreeing to advertise it this month.

Plans for Treeby were put on ice in April over concerns the acquisition of land to upgrade and widen Jandakot Road would alter the boundaries.

Council staff recommended community consultation and advertising of Treeby be pushed back to August, so they could get more information from the WA Planning Commission on their infill plan, but CLE town planning principal Tony Lambert warned that pushing the advertising back further would mean the draft plan would not be ready until the middle of next year.

Cr Steve Portelli said the work on Jandakot and Armadale Roads needed to be done “very soon”.

Only Cr Reeve-Fowkes voted against adopting and advertising the draft plan.

Ten hectares of land declared Bush Forever will be affected by the proposed housing development.
