Fremantle Women’s Health and Wellbeing Expo

Mental Health Week Feature: 7-14 Oct

Mental Health Week runs from 7-14 October 2017. It’s an excellent opportunity to promote awareness about mental health and wellbeing, and equip people with the right information to seek the help they need.

To celebrate World Mental Health Day, Fremantle Women’s Health Centre (FWHC), together with Breastscreen WA and the City of Fremantle have organised the 7th annual Fremantle Women’s Health and Wellbeing Expo on Tuesday 10 October. This free event will run from 10am-1pm at Fremantle Town Hall, giving women the chance to come and try a range of physical and wellbeing activities. Women can obtain reliable health and services information at over 30 stalls. The event is supported by Lotterywest and Act-Belong-Commit to help women connect with their community and themselves.

Health Promotion Officer at FWHC, Carine Rowlands says: “One of the aims of the expo is to engage women in various have-a-go activities such as Yoga, Fitball and Circus skills, and in doing so, help build their confidence to seek out opportunities to be active in their local communities.”

Other activities include Zumba Gold, Mindfulness, Laughter Yoga, Rebound movement, Pilates, Tai-Chi, Wu Tao Dancing, e-bikes and musical entertainment. There’s something for everyone to come and try or watch. Each of the activities is free, about 15-30 minutes in duration and suitable for most abilities and ages.
