HEALTH ADVISOR FEATURE II

Be armed with style this summer
There are two types of sun damage: UVB rays burn the surface layers, causing damage that can lead to melanoma. UVA rays penetrate deeper, degrading the collagen that plumps up the skin, causing ageing.
After having a skin cancer removed from the back of her hand 10 years ago, Christine Silbert realised that wearing the plain sun sleeves in the car wasn’t enough to prevent ongoing skin damage. Unable to find anything in the marketplace that was stylish and effective, Christine decided to create her own and Slinky Sleeves was born.
Slinky Sleeves are made from premium bamboo and cotton. Sample fabrics have been rated as UV 50+ standard. The design provides coverage over the top of the hand and leaves your palms free to carry out tasks. Slinky Sleeves are available for ladies, men and kids. To view the full range and purchase, head online to: http://www.slinkysleeves.com.au or call Christine on 0407 479 691 to make a private appointment. Come along to the next Pop Up Shop on Sunday 19 November at Daglish Tennis Club, from 9am – 3pm.

Help for chronic health problems
If you suffer from a chronic health problem (a disease lasting more than 3 months), ask your Doctor if you are eligible for a GP management plan. Examples of chronic diseases include Arthritis, Diabetes, Asthma, Heart Disease and many more.
The plan takes about 30 minutes and involves thorough documentation of your medical problem, your ideal end goal, what treatment is necessary and who is going to provide you with treatment. It’s an excellent way for patient and Doctor to be sure that all bases are covered with the management of the problem.
The added bonus of a GP management plan is if you have two or more people involved in the management of your care, you may be eligible for up to 5 Medicare rebatable Allied Health sessions (saving approx $60 each visit) to assist in treating your condition. Allied Health professionals include Physiotherapists, Podiatrists, Occupational Therapists, Dieticians, Psychologists and Exercise Physiologists. These sessions can go a long way toward improving your medical condition.
If you think you could benefit from a GP management plan, contact the Ellen Health team today.
