Freo hello

FREO council has launched its first initiative under mayor Brad Pettitt’s third term; roping in locals as volunteer tour guides for visitors.

The council has punched out hundreds of badges with the message “Ask me, I’m a Freo local” and will be handing them out to business owners and friendly residents.

Councillor Dave Hume says if locals feel comfortable being approached by strangers, they’ll be able to give directions, offer advice and give insights into their favourite parts of the city.

“Fremantle locals are a friendly bunch who are eager to share their knowledge and passion with visitors and show them places they might not otherwise know about,” Cr Hume says.

“This campaign is about putting a friendly face on Freo and creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for visitors.”

If you’re a friendly sort, badges are available at the Visitor Centre at the Town Hall or the council’s front counter.
