CARLA GENEVE’s music career has got off to a flyer in Fremantle.
The Albany singer-songwriter moved up to Perth earlier this year, but she didn’t take long to settle into the local music scene, and this month her group won Battle of the Bands at Mojo’s, seeing off 168 different acts.
Geneve’s backed by Harry Johnston on bass and Jack Hill on the drums, and her slow, vocal-heavy songs engage the audience in a Stella Donnelly-esque manner.

Geneve’s prize for winning the competition includes a top-notch recording session, access to influential figures in the music industry, and a professional photo shoot.
Geneve, 19, says her muse is a simple one.
“Is it boring to say life? I don’t think you can really get inspiration from anything else”.
Geneve will play Fremantle Arts Centre on January 28.
