Tavern reprieve

THERE was a small reprieve for Sunset Events at Wednesday’s council meeting in Fremantle.

Council officers had recommended the promoter’s plans for a tavern at Arthur Head be knocked back, but mayor Brad Pettitt convinced his councillors to delay the decision to allow more negotiation.

Cr Ingrid Waltham told the Herald earlier she understood Sunset had agreed to meet with the council for a “heart to heart” on what would be acceptable on the A-class reserve, which under state government rules can only be used for low-impact activities.
