Little Creatures, in partnership with Rusty, recently raised $10,000 at a ‘Toast to the Coast’ fundraising party in Fremantle, with all funds going towards protecting our beautiful Western Australian beaches in the form of Coastcare grants. Coastcare is a community volunteer group made up of everyday Australians who care passionately about the protection and management of our coastal and marine environments.
Coastcare Australia spokesperson Adin Lang said, “We want to alert all Coastcare volunteers that they can apply for these grants soon to help them in their vital work tackling problems like dune erosion, loss of native coastal plants and animals, storm water pollution, weeds, and control of human access to sensitive and vulnerable areas.”
Thousands of volunteers from across the country form more than 500 Coastcare groups. They identify local environmental problems and work together with government, local businesses, and interest groups to achieve practical, sustainable solutions.
Little Creatures’ Head Brewer, Russ Gosling, said raising the money was all about Creatures continuing to give back to the local community. “Our brewery is located on the water’s edge and we’ve always had a strong connection to the ocean and love the coastal lifestyle. That’s why we teamed up with Coastcare to ensure we could do our bit to help protect and restore what’s right on our doorstep.”
