EVERY morning around 6am, you’ll see Wendy Zeffertt running the length of South Fremantle dog beach, come hail, rain or shine.
But a few years ago that was under threat after the Beaconsfield local slipped on a wet floor, dislocated her knee, and required surgery.
“I couldn’t even stand, let alone walk, and my whole leg from the knee down went black,” she says.
“Well-meaning friends told me that knees take years to recover.”
With an Australian National University science degree, and well versed in a number of holistic health modalities, including educational kinesiology, sound therapy, and herbal medicine, she turned to AcuEnergetics for a rapid recovery, and the rest, as they say is history.
“I run on the beach regularly again…And even though I’m no longer a spring chicken, most mornings my knees feel great,” Zeffertt says.
Forty years ago, West Australian Kevin Niv Farrow developed AcuEnergetics, and it has since become popular in the UK, Europe, New Zealand and the US.
Pain and disease in the body and mind is caused by a disruption in the flow of the body’s energy, something AcuEnergetics reverses by unblocking the energy flow to encourage faster natural healing, Ms Zeffertt, a qualified AcuEnergetics practitioner, says.
“We use a technique we call resonance, we feel the energy, which is a form of electricity.
“If you restore the energy flow, the body has a better chance to fix itself.”
Somewhere between reiki and acupuncture, AcuEnergetics taps into the body’s meridian lines, but without needles, pressure or “electronic devices”.
“We do more than acupuncture, but it is based on traditional Chinese medicine,” Ms Zeffertt says.
As she demonstrated on my hand, a warm tingling follows a line on my palm down two fingers.
All without her touching my skin, which is apparently quite common.
“I’m not putting energy into the body or pulling it out, it’s working with the energy,” she says.
AcuEnergetics can be used to treat a host of ailments including chronic back and neck pain, stress, insomnia, menstrual, fertility and menopausal problems, depression, headaches and migraines.
