Pupils at East Fremantle Primary School took to the streets and parks recently for Clean Up Australia Day.
Teacher Julie Hughes says the school was making a conscious effort to recycle and reduce waste.

Last year it implemented waste-free Tuesdays, when children were asked to bring lunchboxes with no throw-away packets or plastics.
“We’re just trying to teach students about rubbish they can recycle,” Ms Hughes says.
The waste-free day was well received by pupils and parents, so this year the school expanded it to two days a week.
