FREMANTLE was a bit of a ghost town last week as hordes of people headed to the Fairbridge Festival.
A heap of Freo musicians, including Lucky Oceans, Mark Cain and David Milroy, were part of the impressive
Andrew Winton wowed on slide guitar, and Jon Cope and partner Emma Birkett rocked in the atmospheric Fairbridge chapel.
Bass Lemon, featuring students from John Curtin College, revved up their young audience with a mix of original songs and covers.
Hamilton Hill local Ross Vegas was a hit and his song Post code 6060, a tribute to Fremantle’s decision not to celebrate Australian Day, got a loud cheer from festival goers.
Freo percussion band Wasamba had punters dancing in the street, and local band Ewan Buckley and Public Son closed a brilliant, and not too soggy, weekend on a high note.
