Time for a treaty?

A youth reconciliation group will host Shit We Need to Talk About—a panel discussion on what a treaty between Australia and its Aboriginal people would mean for the nation. Australia is the only Commonwealth country that does not have a treaty with its indigenous people.

A treaty can include one agreement, or lots of agreements about sovereignty, the relationship between indigenous people and the government, and the rights of indigenous people. The event is from 6:30pm–8:30pm, with free food and live music, at the J Shed on May 23. Hall’s Creek musician Rhys Bedford (above) played at a recent Shit We Need to Talk About event.
