THERE was more bad news for Sunset Events this week, with state planning staff recommending its Arthur Head tavern be knocked back.
The promoter’s development application is due to be decided by the WA Planning Commission’s statutory planning committee this Tuesday but an accompanying report says it’s not a good fit for the historic reserve.
“The proposed application … is not of a nature and scale compatible with the use and zoning of the surrounding land, the nature and purpose of the reserved land and the environmental character of the location,” the report said.
Although Sunset had reduced its footprint and the proposed patronage of the tavern, the WAPC report said the company had not identified any community need for the facility in the area.
