Logo tribute

THE only female winner of the Fremantle Ports Swim Thru, Maisie Boyle, will be honoured at this year’s event.

In 1922 Ms Boyle was the winner of the inaugural South Beach Swim Thru, the first ocean swimming race in WA.

The organisers of this year’s swim thru enlisted North Metropolitan TAFE students to create a logo that captured the true spirit of the event.

Swim Thru coordinator Louise Ainsworth said the winning design by Jenny Kostner, depicting a woman in a 1920s style bathing suit, was a fitting tribute to Ms Boyle.

“Jenny’s logo is truly distinct to our event, incorporating not only the history of the swim but its all-inclusive nature,” Ms Ainsworth says.

The Fremantle Ports Swim Thru will be held on Saturday December 8 at South Beach in Fremantle.
