FREMANTLE PRESS has teamed up with the Fogarty Foundation to launch a new $20,000 writing competition for young WA writers.
The biennial award is the only one of its kind in the state and is open to WA-based writers aged 18-35.
The competition will accept unpublished manuscripts of fiction and narrative nonfiction.
Entires will be judged by Fremantle Press and the winner will be announced in May next year and receive $20,000 and a publishing contract.
The Fogarty Foundation, which provides educational and leadership opportunities for young people in WA, has committed to supporting the prize for six years.
The winning manuscript is scheduled for publication in 2020, with an education tour planned to coincide with the book’s release.
Entries for the award will open on March 25. For more information and submission guidelines, visit http://www.fremantlepress.com.au
