A creative Christmas at UWA

THE ornate architecture of Winthrop Hall will form an idyllic setting for the UWA Choral Society’s December 16 performance of Joseph Haydn’s classical 1799 masterpiece, The Creation.

The oratorio, first performed in Vienna, describes the biblical story of creation, and UWACS will unite over 100 voices with a 35 piece orchestra, including prominent soloists Katja Webb, Kristin Bowtell and Matthew Reuben James Ward.

Shaun Lee Chen will be the evening’s concert master, while Christopher van Tuinen, recently appointed as music director of the West Australian Opera, will be conductor, bringing “music of sublime imagination and power” to the audience.
