Carols to help kids

AWARD-WINNING singer/songwriter Kavisha Mazella is back in Fremantle today (Saturday December 22) for a Christmas concert that will help young girls in Tanzania get an education.

Ms Mazella will be cracking out traditional carols as well as original songs by local songwriters from 6pm on the deck and lawn at Kidogo Arthouse on Bathers Beach.

Although it’s a free gig, a hat will go round to raise money to upgrade a girls’ hostel at the Tanzanian village of Matipwili.

“The girls’ hostel has been built but currently has no ceiling and no mosquito netting or decent windows, so not only are the little girls exposed to malaria from mosquito bites but they have trouble securing their belongings or feeling secure themselves,” says Kidogo director Joanna Robertson.
