A WOMAN drowned after the car she was in plunged off Fremantle’s South Mole on Monday night.
Police were called to Fleet Street about 7.10pm, after receiving a report that a vehicle had reversed into the water while leaving a car bay.
81-year-old Ken Forsey, believed to be the driver, was able to get out and bystanders got him to safety, but his 75-year-old wife Barbara was unable to be rescued as the car sank too quickly.
Divers from the water police team recovered her body and the man was taken to Fiona Stanley Hospital.
They recovered the Mitsubishi Magna wagon the next day.
Police are investigating what went wrong, including any possible faults with the car.
