Creative lunch

A LOCAL artist with a passion for sparking other’s creativity will launch this year’s Lunch in the Gallery series at Atwell Gallery.

The gatherings run one Wednesday a month until November from 12-2pm at the Alfred Cove gallery on Canning Highway.

Maureen Lipa’s demonstration this Wednesday February 20 is about the unusual medium gelli printing.

“Well, it is a type of mono-print with endless possibilities using a gelatine plate, acrylic pain and then things like feathers, leaves, grass, cheesecloth or other household items to create unique works on a variety of papers which can then be framed, mounted on stretched canvas, used on cards or gift bags, collaged with or simply admired,” Ms Lipa said.

“It is fun and addictive…all that is needed is a sense of playfulness and curiosity.”

The session will cost $20 ($15 for pensioners) and includes a light lunch.

Anyone who catches the gelli bug can then enrol in a workshop Ms Lipa is running at Atwell Gallery on Wednesday February 27 from 10am to 3.30pm. It’ll cost $75 ($65 for members) and all materials are included.
