Ice cool, warm heart

• Fremantle singer Anita is launching her debut EP, Little House.

COULD Fremantle have the next Bjork in its midst – minus the crazy antics?

Early next month, a young Iceland-born singer with a voice as crystal clear as a stalactite from the Vatnajokull ice cave will launch her debut EP in her adopted hometown down under.

Like Bjork, 15-year-old Anita performs with just one moniker (her surname Kristinsdottir is a bit of an Icelandic mouthful) and has been a regular at the Fremantle Markets for a couple of years already. She can also be found busking around the port city, in the Perth CBD, at weddings or even the odd funeral.

Nordic beauty

Last year the Nordic beauty launched the original single Marry Me on YouTube and Spotify, which has helped her presence grow to almost 70,000 views.

The success of the single has prompted her to release her first EP Little House, which will be launched at PSAS on Pakenham Street on August 8 from 6.30pm.

But don’t expect Bjork-like hijinks on stage; the youngster’s music is heavily influenced by her mum and manager Una, known from her blog as “The Perth Affirmation Lady”, so the emphasis is on positive attitudes, encouraging friendships and self-empowerment.

Tickets for the launch will be available from from Monday.
