Bonzer Bali

THERE’S more than a touch of luxury Bali villa to this South Fremantle home.

Built in 1989, it’s no surprise that its architect Martin Grounds went on to design an award-winning hotel in Bali and other resorts around the world.

The four-bedroom home is at the rear of a generous 668sqm subdivision on busy Hampton Road, but the sound of traffic quickly disappears as you wander down the tree-lined driveway.

In the huge open-plan living area, a massive wall of glass rises up to a soaring, timber-clad cathedral ceiling.

From the open plan you can enjoy gorgeous views of the lush garden, dominated by vivid burgundy bougainvilleas, and a coruscating salt-water pool.

The stylish black-slate floors are practical and the brick walls, some raw others painted, complement the colour and texture of the timber ceiling and beams.

The country-style kitchen has a massive window overlooking a delightful garden.

There’s a stack of cedar cupboards and a sweep of benchtops, while frosted alsynite panels in the ceiling ensure plenty of natural light.

There’s loads of space inside for entertaining and outside there’s a roofed alfresco with slatted-timber framework.

Two of the bedrooms are on the ground floor and ships stairs proved access to the third bedroom on the third level, a sprawling loft space with tree-top views.

The fourth bedroom is ensuite and located in a separate timber- framed studio.

The room’s gorgeous, heavy-timber-framed doors were sourced from the old York gaol.

The studio’s spacious living room has french doors opening onto the pool, and a pleasant little alfresco.
