Great suburb

IT’S nice to live in an established suburb.

There’s a sense of history in the architecture and surroundings that transcends the modern amenities you find in Perth’s hinterlands.

This five bedroom three bathroom home has the best of both worlds – it was recently built in the established suburb of Ardross.

Mt Pleasant, Applecross and Ardross are real estate heaven in my books, with the river at your fingertips and countless parks, cafes and restaurants to enjoy.

This two storey luxury home was designed with a family in mind, preferably one with lots of kids who like to entertain.

The facade is a pleasant mix of timber and concrete, blending into the swish locale.

There’s a bold squarish shape to the house; one of those divisive designs that will get tongues wagging one way or the other.

One of the highlights is the sliding glass doors and huge windows in the lounge, flooding the room with natural light and giving it a cathedral-like feel.

From here you have access to the open plan dining/kitchen area, which has plenty of room for a long table.

The kitchen is a swish, minimalist affair with white glossy cupboards reflecting the recessed lights on the ceiling.

A stainless steel oven has been built into the cabinetry at waist height; meaning no more bending down to check if that beef and merlot pie is ready.

After a bite to eat, slide back the glass doors and head out to the rear garden, which has a stylish lap pool and huge tiled alfresco.

The alfresco has one of this patio roofs with adjustable louvre blades, meaning you can have it open in the winter to let the light in and shut in summer to keep you nice and cool. A great feature to make the patio an all-year-around area.

There’s also a kitchen bench out here with a sink, so you won’t need to keep going back and forward to the kitchen if you’re hosting a meal.

Adjacent to the pool and around the side of the home is a decent swathe of grass, where the owners have installed an eye-catching suspended day bed (I’ll let you fill in the blanks with your own imagination).

It’s a decent-sized area and handy if you have pets or youngish kids who want to kick the footy around.

Another nice feature of this house is the mix of tiled, wood and carpeted floors.

Carpets in bedrooms are always great, making it feel more cosy and snug, especially in winter time.

The bedrooms and bathrooms are all finished to a very high standard, with the bathrooms featuring some very sleek and minimalist design touches.

There’s plenty of room in this home which includes an activity/games room, home theatre, solar panels, ducted reverse AC and double lock-up garage.

Situated on a huge 746sqm block, you are minutes from Booragoon shopping centre, Wireless Hill Reserve and the river, and are in the Applecross Senior High School catchment.

This is a beautiful home in a grand suburb.
