NBN cash splash

FREMANTLE federal Labor MP Josh Wilson is continuing his campaign for better NBN access in his electorate, spruiking a $3 billion election commitment to see the end of clunky copper wiring.

Mr Wilson, who sat on a telecommunications committee which examined the roll-out of the NBN under the Turnbull government and came away with a dim view of the patchy fibre-to-the-node system, says if Labor’s re-elected, more than 7,800 additional homes and businesses would get full-fibre upgrades by 2030.

It would mean that nearly every home and business where NBN doesn’t rely on satellite will be able to get speeds of up to 1 gigabit per second

“Community members and local businesses across Cockburn, East Fremantle and Fremantle know how important reliable, high-speed internet is – not just for information, communication, and entertainment but for trade, health care, and education,” Mr Wilson said.
