THE iconic flowers outside an Applecross Chinese restaurant on Canning Hwy were stolen last Sunday to owner Linda Chen’s dismay.
The six-box set up surrounding the restaurant was filled with red geraniums and cost around $3000. Ms Chen says a trail of potting mix showed someone had dug four plants from one box and carried them to a parked car on Willcock Street. Ms Chen says people knew of the flowers and that the owners had spent time caring for them: “Once customers had finished their meals they would pose in front of the flowers for photos. We want to create awareness for people to keep an eye out.” The theft follows the thieving of valuable crotons in the same area.
