SUPPOSEDLY it’s not good feng shui for front and back doors of a house to line up.
As far as I’m concerned being able to look from the entry right through the open-plan living area out to the cool pool beyond is all good.
I restrained the impulse to throw myself in fully clothed and instead enjoyed the cooling effect of the air con while I checked out this four-bedroom home on Cawston Road, Attadale.
The original section is late art deco and the three bedrooms at the front have the decorative ceilings of the period.
Jarrah floors flow through to the rear, a classy, modern extension that doesn’t miss a beat as it blends old with new.
This spacious addition has a huge, modern, galley-style kitchen.
White Caesarstone tops the white benches, including a long island version, and there’s plenty of storage, including a pantry.
The rear wall of the living/dining area is made up of stacker doors that slide back into each other to merge indoors with the great outdoors.
Timber flooring inside and in the timbered-ceilinged patio tie the two perfectly.
At this time of the year you can bet you will be outside as often as you can, and then some.
You won’t have to even go in to cook with a fully fitted barbecue kitchen, including a swag of cupboards and a sink.
While the adults relax over a cold one the kids have the pool, and the adjacent “resort-style” playground to let off steam.
And if the noise is too much for guests or the visiting olds there’s a granny flat to retreat to. The spacious bedroom has its own entry and while there’s no kitchen there is a separate sitting room and bathroom.
There’s something for everyone in this home on a generous 904sqm, with the river a short walk away, a choice of great schools, shopping and pristine parklands and easy access to public transport.
