Workshop dismantled

A SUMMER school holiday program hit a bump Wednesday when no kids showed at a kites and bikes workshop run by Dismantle at Fremantle’s Esplanade.

Children had been invited to make kites from recycled plastic bags, which could then be attached to bikes.

Event manager Tess Maloney says she’d hoped to get younger kids involved and excited about cycling.

“I don’t know why kids weren’t interested,” she lamented.

“We thought it might be a supervision issue, but I’m a school teacher and we’ve all got working with children checks.”

Ms Maloney remains hopeful kids will show up for the rest of the program.

Dismantle will host weekly workshops ($15 each) till the end of January—sign up to avoid cancellations and disappointment. Email tess@dismantle.org.au or visit http://www.dismantle.org.au
