FORMER Fremantle councillor Amelie Whittington (nee Fabre-Simmonds) has died after a long illness.

The 82-year-old was a Beaconsfield ward councillor from 1976 to 1988, serving on the same council as her eldest son Don.

“My mother, Amelie, was one of the most enthusiastic ambassadors for the city in living memory and I am proud of what she achieved,” Mr Whittington said.
