Trying not to sound too much like a bragger, but there’s not many folk down Coogee way who can out-view me.
Enjoying an uninterrupted vista from the cranes on Fremantle’s port to the naval base on Garden Island, we’ve done very well for a family of renters.
But this six-bedroom, three-bathroom home comes as close as any, perched as it is on the top of the ridgeline on Nancy Way, Coogee.
I know the street pretty well from delivering the Chook on weekends and can attest to its general quietness, broken only by the putt-putting of my delivery scooter on a late Friday or early Saturday.
One thing a lot of people don’t realise about Coogee is a lot of homes are still on monster blocks, often because they’re so big there’s no room left to sub-divide.
This place sits on a hefty 821sqm, which has left enough room for a designer swimming pool out the back.
Mind you, with six good-sized bedrooms, a monster family room, open-plan dining and lounge area, games room, meals area, a gym, loads of verandah including one 5×5 chunk under a portico that qualifies as a room in itself, this place takes up most of the rest.
From the front it’s a pretty typical limestone-clad, double-storey home, with an interesting feature being a couple of timber-clad protrusions that arise out of the roof. Quirky on the outside, but giving the family room and lounge/dining great cathedral roofs.
The kitchen’s gleaming white stone benchtops, large tiled floor and timber cupboards which stretch for miles (so it seems).
The main bedroom and its accoutrements also deserves special mention, as it’s got a walk-in bigger than some apartments will be in inner-city Fremantle, a spa bath and access to a verandah overlooking the pool.
All up it’s a great home for the bigger family.
And I’m not property expert so for god’s sake don’t buy anything just on this tidbit, but in the past year most of the surrounding suburbs made up all the ground they’d lost in prices the year before, but not Coogee—how long is that going to last?
