IF a college principal spotted his students spray painting a bus shelter just outside the school grounds you’d imagine the kids would be heading for a long detention.

But Seton College’s Egmont Melton is rapt his year 9 students pulled spray cans out of their backpacks after a car demolished the shelter on Winterfold Road 15 months ago.

He says the students, who’d originally painted the bus stop 18 months ago, were upset it had been flattened, so he asked them if they wanted to decorate it again when it was rebuilt.

The stop has been painted with endangered flora and fauna of WA. “It’s a good lesson on if at first you don’t succeed, you try and try again,” he said.
