LIVING this close to one of Fremantle’s best bakeries is a good reason not to buy this Nelson Street, South Fremantle home.

The temptation is too great, and walking won’t cut it when it comes to balancing kilojoules versus kilometres because it’s almost on the doorstep—and then there’s a couple of great cafes mere metres on.

Of course if you’re whippet-thin, or have willpower and a love of Fremantle’s heritage you couldn’t do better than this gorgeous four-bedroom abode.

Built in 1908 it’s a solid, limestone stunner, sitting on a generous 840sqm.

It has all the hallmarks of the period, including a delightful bay window in a street-facing bedroom, a mix of jarrah and baltic pine floorboards, ceiling roses and fireplaces.

The formal lounge has lovely French doors opening onto a protected side garden off the wrap-around verandah—as does the dining area of the open plan dining/living/kitchen.

This is an addition to the original home, a spacious area that could very easily be made larger. And while the kitchen is fine as it is, new owners will probably want to upgrade as it’s looking rather tired.

Burn off a couple of kilojoules with a stroll to Bathers Beach, or you can walk off those bakery delights with a walk into Fremantle. Or there’s the CAT bus, which departs from just outside a couple more eateries. Sigh.
