They will fight for their beaches and never surrender.
Attadale locals are up in arms over a plan to cede their section of foreshore to erosion.
Dawn Davies says she “couldn’t believe it” when she heard authorities planned to pull back a local path, giving in to the Swan’s lapping waves.
She and the Friends of the Attadale Foreshore got busy collecting 637 signatures in just three days to oppose the retreat.
Ms Davies says the foreshore was saved at Point Walter and Applecross and she can’t understand why the council is hoisting the white flag at Attadale.
But Melville city council CEO Shayne Silcox says it’s not a council decision.
He says the Swan River Trust and the WA parks and wildlife department have the final call. The council’s seeking information on the “managed retreat” option. He says that advice will be passed to lead petitioner Mike Nichols.
Ms Davies is hoping to organise an electors’ meeting so locals can have their say, and she wants Melville to recommend to the state bodies that they hold the line.

I am an Attadale resident that is all for the changes… 100 meter’s up on either side it joins back up two the waterfront. not a lot is being loosed ( just a short walking strip that people walk on which will be moved back towards the road away from the shore line a bit) but a whole lot is being gained so the wildlife can grow and the ecosystem can become healthy again.
