Alfred Cove residents are beaming after Melville city council backed their opposition to an 87-unit development at the old Striker Pavilion site.
The Striker Balance action group of neighbours want two-storey townhouses on the site and not the 13.75m monolith planned by Tuscom Development.
At last week’s special electors’ meeting the council fell into stride with the protestant neighbours, unanimously opposing the project. The council will recommend the local development assessment panel reject the plans when it meets next week. When the DAP meets, councillors Nicole Foxton and Mark Reynolds (who weren’t at the special electors’ meeting) will debate the application’s merits with the three appointed members Charles Johnson, Ian Hocking and Luigi D’Alessandro.
Striker Balance’s Geoff Pearson says it’s “fantastic” the council agreed with them.
